SAMURAI UMBRELLA SAMURAI UMBRELLA

Reviews

We've been having our typical awful winter weather this past few weeks in San Francisco. Unfortunately, my old Walgreens mini umbrella fell victim to a gale force wind one day and subsequently thrusted me into the market for a new umbrella. Enter...the Samurai Umbrella. A coworker had just received one as a Christmas present, which is how I came to know this amazing piece of craftsmanship. This was the first time I have ever seen a product and thought "this is the best model of a device that will ever exist." In other words, you will be hard pressed to ever find an umbrella that is as well-built, clever, and has a knack for starting conversations as the Samurai Umbrella. Just last night as I was commuting back home on my back, I had the umbrella firmly strapped around my torso, and another biker came up behind me and remarked, "I bet drivers make sure to give you the right away when they see that sword on you." I just laughed and explained my sheathed weapon was actually just an umbrella. His face looked like his brain might have just exploded inside his cranium. It really is that amazing. Construction/quality...the big question on any product. You won't find an umbrella under $100 with better craftsmanship. This umbrella opens smooth like a deadly ninja assassin. It's very solid and feels precision-made. The long handle allows for a great grip during heavy winds and the grips actually functions to improve your grip on the device even more. It really is a great product. I've been an Amazon customer for many years now, but this is my first review. I felt compelled to let other people know how terrific this item is because I love it so much. This is the second product I own by Kikkerland, the first being a magnetic kitchen timer. The timer's another great product, so it's definitely a brand to keep your eye on for smart, well-made products.

this thing is awesome built to last for real. very sturdy and strong the umbrella is awesome. i did not like the strap bag because it broke. but the umbrella is perfect. u get a lot of attention and comments. its a good conversation starter. any way i love it. i brought it last year and i still have it. its in good condition even thought i fence with my lil bro with the umbrealla. i did a lot of fencing and umbrella is in good shape very strong. hahahha . i love it . i recommend it to alll age. bad thing is that it looks so real. suspicious may occur. but no woorries. its a good one. pse

The sheath/bag is very poorly made. It is very flimsy material with just one simple seam tacking it together. Our came with the seam already blown out on the bottom. I sewed it together but don't see the bag lasting longer than a few uses.

This is one of those unusual products you find on the internet that you must definitely give to your dad/brother/boyfriends/etc. Actually, I feel like getting one for myself too...

This was a great gift I got for my "adult" son who has always wanted to be a ninja! Fun but useful for him when he walks his dog thru the neighborhood. He is a hit with all the neighborhood kids and has been asked where he got it. A great find.

This video REALLY impressed me.. I have been buying martial arts videos for years and am always disappointed by the quality of most "slapped up" productions. This video is definately the exception. Very clear, well lit, concise material and audio that can actually be heard.. hallelujah. The material covered is well rounded and informative.. Stances, grips and strikes are all covered in reasonable detail, allowing for months, if not years of study (actually more like practise material) If you are looking for the quick fix, bridge guide to swords, this is not the video for you. However if you are serious about learning and ready to put in the time to practise these forms diligently, then this is for you :) (more material covered in this video than 8 months at my local kenjutsu school)

This isn't the advanced video for the person wanting to clash with a practiced samurai. But it is a start. Not overly entertaining, sometimes vague, and a very basic level of instruction. But on the other hand, if you start with this one... I think one could watch and practice the stances and basic sword techniques shown for many weeks to months and be prepared for another step up the ladder of martial arts sword use. There should be a series here to advance but nothing so far available. There is a bonus in this video that I greatly appreciated: explained the design of the ninja's sword! Making one of these for practice is within most amature craftman's ability. Can you say "where's my local leaf-spring manufacturer?" They can supply you with the non-heat treated steel, and can treat it when you have shaped it and put the holes where you want them. I didn't expect this in the tape. I bought a Cold Steel Chisma Katana (24") and thought it best to learn to use it. But where on earth does one learn to use a sword in suburbia? Videos! I recommend this one to go with all the other videos needed to learn sword techniques. Be careful! Don't bring a sword to a gun fight and have fun.

Just about the only thing I learned off of this video was the japanese words for stances. I mean I watched the video about 5 times and learned quickly the techniques on the video. Its not very advanced at all. For the price, I think its a waste of money, cut it in half and it would be a 5 star, but[$$$] for a VHS that one can master within a few days, come on.

I got the video for Christmas and was so inspired that I went right out and built my own sword based on Mark Grove's specifications. I've had hours of enjoyment since, practicing the simple techniques therein. There's nothing really flashy or flowery about this video. What it contains is a small number of simple, rudimentary techniques and principles, that with dedication and practice, can build a strong foundation for further study. The production value of this video is the best I've seen in the martial arts genre...it truly raises the bar! Whether you're a seasoned martial artist looking to expand your base of knowledge, or a complete novice wanting to experience something unique and challenging, this video is well worth the money. Buy it!

Finally someone out there decided to put out something with some integrity! I have seen so many martial arts instructionals that quite simply arent worth squat. This video presents swordsmanship that is REAL. It somehow echoes a sense of ancient seriousness and purity that contrasts sharply to the self serving, commercialized, or simply bogus video that is out there. Production wise it is very entertaining with some amazing choreographed fights in the start and finish of the video that simply entertain and emphasize the skills of this school's top men. Most videos I have seen seem to avoid that. Clarity, editing and music just seem to elevate this video above the rest. If you are really a swordplay buff and want to graduate from running around a park hitting your friends with sticks or you are currently a trained martial artist who wants to see what Kenjutsu a la Ninja truly is...see this. It will provide you with a serious and well developed program for forming fundamental swordskills that can not be disputed by any legitimate Japanese swordplay authority.

I am a Knife/Sword collector, and user I study arts of all kinds and know what I'm saying here.. This blade is only for you if you enjoy display and collecting, you would not want to have a battle with this blade, for it would snap after very few hits. The reason why would be it is onlt 420 J2 stainless steel, it's almost like a giant butter knife, though the point is most likely sharp, the edges might be as well, I still consider these 'butter knives'. If you can bend a spoon with your bare hands, you will also be able to bend this blade very easily, for it is longer than a spoon and logics and mathematics show that it would be even easier to bend this sword, than the spoon, most likely, that is. Though if you are a collector, or just want a sword to brag about this is fine, but if you are planning on using the sword.. Find one that is atleast 1050 High Carbon Steel. If you want a superiorly heavy duty sword Henwei (Chen) Swords are what you are looking for. PS: I do not own this sword, you can try what you wish with it but I have many swords like it, made with the same steel, they bend very easily. PSS: Other than the fact of it not being a battle sword, it is still a beautiful, and interesting sword if you are a collector.

Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword

Reviews

My 3 year old and my 5 year old love this movie. Anything Scooby Doo is great by them! Buy this and you will probably laugh a few times with your kids. My son started Karate, this really gave him a smile when he saw Scooby and Shaggy doing karate like he does. Won't let you down.

If you've been longing for the quality of Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, keep longing, because this movie isn't it. I bought this for a long-time Scooby Doo fan and we ended up falling asleep watching it. It's not very entertaining, and it's a little bit weird to be honest with you. Shaggy and Scooby, the stars of every Scooby Doo production really seem to be written out of character, which takes away from a lot of the enjoyment.

This is a really cute movie done in the oldstyle cartoon feel with a modern twist. My children have watched this movie several times and enjoy it every time.

Scooby-doo and the samuri sword is a combination of futuristic technology and olden day legends. Scooby-doo and the gang travel to Japan for Daphane's martial arts competition. But it suddenly turns into a wild mystery, with alot of laughs, thanks to Shaggy, Scooby and the rest of the gang, plus others.

In the beginning they are in Japan and they are visiting one of Daphne's friends, who is at a school for martial arts. At the school they learn that there is an ancient legend about a black samurai. This is one of my favourite new Scooby-doo movies, it has a wonderful ending. Anyone who watches it won't want to fast forward through any of it.

Average Rating:

Are legends static pieces of folklore that explain and celebrate the past, or are they constantly evolving stories with room for new heroes? Scooby-Doo and the gang are headed to Japan where Daphne is scheduled to take part in an invitation-only martial arts tournament and the rest of the gang is looking forward to some much-earned relaxation...

Revenge of the Ninja Revenge of the Ninja

Reviews

i have been lookin for this movie ever since i was six i LOVE this movie, me and my dad use to watch this movie when ever i was good its been 18 years and i still rember this movie

I attained this movie based on two things, my love for The Cannon Group and ninjas. I will say this that The Cannon Group produced many action movies in the 1980s. The American Ninja series was produced by The Cannon Group. So the fact that "Revenge of the Ninja" was produced by The Cannon Group and directed by Sam Firstenberg, who went on to direct both "American Ninja 1 & 2" just fueled my love for this flick. The plot is simple Cho Tanaka (Sho Kosugi) and his six year old son Kane come to California (but in this version of California all of the cars have Utah license plates) after his family is slaughtered by ninjas in Japan. Cho is in partnership with his friend Braden in opening an art gallery paying homage to Japanese art, in this case dolls. Cho doesn't know that Braden is secretly dealing heroin that is hidden inside these dolls. Well to make a long story short, Braden's secret is discovered by Kane and the former attempts to kill the little boy. I should note that Braden is an American Ninja (not the Michael Dudikoff brand) and is quite skilled in the martial arts. When Braden dresses as a ninja, he is dressed all in black and has a metal mask on. It actually looks kind of creepy. Digressing, Kane is a chip off the old block and knows his fair share of kung fu. As a matter of fact, it is really quite amusing watching this little kid fight. It doesn't take Cho long to realize something is amiss and he starts kicking butt and taking names. The fights in this movie are so over the top, the violence is so graphic that it actually made my mouth drop a couple of times. This movie is 26 years old and I can't think of a movie made in the past two years that could hold a candle next to it with regards to content and action. A perfect example is the fight sequence that revolves around a van. Some notably things to keep an eye open for in this movie. - A politically incorrect Indian that could be called Chief Tomahawk. - An Italian gangster who is such a diet Joe Pesci, that I call him Jack Pesci. - The fight sequence that transpires at an awesome playground. - A group of thugs that look like The Village People. - California that uses Utah license plates on their automobiles. - Torture by Jacuzzi. - An evil ninja that is nothing short of Shredder and/or Darth Vader. - A six year old who could beat up Jean-Claude Van Damme. I have never seen a film featuring Sho Kosugi until "Revenge of the Ninja". I must admit Kosugi is an amazing martial artist, watching him fight is like watching Fred Astaire dance. I can't believe I haven't seen him in more movies; perhaps he didn't make that many films. It should be noted that the little boy who plays his son, is in fact his son in real life. This piece of cinema is a revenge film in the most simplistic form and it never tried to be anything that it wasn't. I felt a real sense excitement while watching this film and it will be viewed again many times in the future. The only special feature is the trailer/preview. I am now going to find a ninja costume see if I can jump kick without blowing my back out.

Thank you! This product arrived shortly after the order was placed. Revenge Of The Ninja is an American film from 1983. This film is a rare gem. It is one of a kind and a masterpiece in its own right (they don't make them like this anymore). It is not an easy film to watch, it is heart-rending from the opening scenes to its final scenes. This film involves an assasination wipeout of a family, Japanese traditional views on family, great cast of actors( Sho Kosugi and his real-life son Kane Kosugi, Keith Vitali, Arthur Roberts, Virgil Frye, Ashley Ferarrre). Demonstrations of physical stamina(amazingly shot high-speed van getaway with Sho Kosugi surfing on top of it)and marshal arts discipline. The film features an American ninja(played by Arthur Roberts)a sinister character, when in a ninja outfit he's capable of silent, quick and always deadly assasinations of those who cross him. What makes this American ninja intriguing is his shiny silver devil mask he wears as part of his outfit making him a kind of devil incarnate with whom the good Japanese ninja(Sho Kosugi) has to do the final battle. Shot with beautiful views of Utah's mountain ranges looming in the background through out the film and awesome original music by Rob Walsh and directed by Sam Firstenberg this film features many poignant death scenes including that of a police liutenant(played by Keith Vitali). The film ends with the destruction and "demasking" of an evil entity by the pure at heart and reunion of father and son on top of American Towers building. This is an inspiring film that pits the viewer on the side of all that is good and just. Darie Petrovic March 2009 NYC,NY

I purchased the newer VHS copies of the 3 movies in this series back in 2000, so when this dvd was released I saw that it was still in standard format and passed. Today I ended up watching the dvd and was shocked to discover that the VHS copy contained an edited version of the film with MUCH less gore. When watching my tapes I had thought that I remembered there being a bit more to some of the kills but had attributed that to simply being false memories from my childhood. Now I see that I was correct in my suspicions. If you're a fan of this series of films that passed on this DVD for the same reason as I did, this is a definite must purchase disc! Now if only they'd release NINJA III on dvd. (note: this is only in reference to the newer vhs version of this film featuring the same cover design as the dvd)

I purchased the Ninja movies Ninja 1: "Enter the Ninja". Ninja 2: "Revenge of the Ninja", and Ninja 3: "The Domination". Revenge of the Ninja was less goofy out of the three and you have to be a Shô Kosugi fan to truly appreciate the film. Ninja stunts range from secret shuriken belts to spitting darts in a guys face (ouch). All in all a great purchase for any ninja fan. For other ninja enjoyment check out the "Shinobi No Mono" series.

The Ninja are back! Brandishing swords and fists leaping and kicking wielding blow darts and explosives they know a thousand ways to kill. The Naked Sword The Naked Sword

Reviews

All i can say is this movie is Hot. Who cares about plot, storyline, this movie is hot. Lots of nudity, and it's very funny at the same time. So, just sit back and relax and enjoy the Naked Sword! Buy this movie now, it is worth it.

In the tradition of "Kasumi: Lady Ninja" and the "Ninja Vixens" franchise, comes a "pink" film by director Yoshikazu Kato, called "NINJAKEN: the NAKED SWORD". If you expect a film with a lot of action packed sequences then you will be disappointed. "Ninjaken..." is an exploitive, highly erotic tale of female ninjas who use the best weapon they have at their disposal--their womanly wiles and their curvaceous bodies. This film stars AV-star, super sexy Kaede Matsushima--so do I have your attention, my fellow men? In a time of warring states, the female ninja Murasame (Kaede Matsushima) is assigned to assassinate the rogue clan lord Daizen Osakabe who has aligned himself with the Tokugawa to betray the Taiko. Despite the odds, Murasame nearly succeeds but in the end, is almost captured and badly wounded. She flees the Daimyo's resident ninja, Akatokage, and collapses, regaining her consciousness within the walls of a mysterious convent for women. However, this "Aitokuin" convent is headed by a woman-loving abbess named Jokyo is not all that it seemsto be, the convent is only a front for a woman-trafficking brothel. A sinister plot threatens to take control of Murasame's future. Now, Murasame must use all her skills, both as a female warrior and a woman to escape a deadly web of sexual slavery and deception. When watching a low-budget exploitive flick, one has keep the expectations low. I was expecting an erotic film full of campy action and gore; and this film isn't action-packed at all, but relies heavily on the erotic elements to stay aloft. The plot is almost none-existent as the script revolves upon just how many sequences of graphic sex it could fit in 75 minutes. The fight sequences are laughable and the story is too hollow. Honestly, the only way to appreciate this film is by comparing it to other Japanese erotic films of this kind--just how does it measure up? Well, if you're curious just how many exploitive scenes there are on this film, then the movie stacks up well and exceeds "Ninja Vixens". The sex scenes are very erotically charged and there are quite a good number of them. The scenes are also long and arousing--Kaede Matsushima is an AV idol and a nude model, so it is always fun to see her in an exploitive film. The supporting cast is mostly made up of beautiful Japanese women; Hiromi Suzuki, Kyoko Kazama and Mari Yamaguchi and none of them are shy to shed their clothes. There is no full frontal nudity but the only thing covering up Kaede Matsushima's (and the other women) sensitive female parts is a man's hand while he treats himself. Oh, there is no "blurring" in the crotch areas, so you get to see all the "action". The film also has its share of silly "punch lines" but delivers them with a straight face. I cannot divulge any of them but let's just say that it expresses something about a weapon, pleasure, and a hole to hide a small dagger. There are a lot of girl-on-girl action and sexual torture that is a little disturbing but at the same time, exciting. Kaede Matsushima's "training" sequences may be the film's biggest draw. The scenes are very graphic and trumps on most softcore films. So why did I spend 75 minutes to watch this? I was curious as to how Matsushima can handle herself in a non-AV affair.. (right!) Japanese feudal tales have often told of female assassins who use their sexuality as a weapon, they are dispatched to murder feudal lords; this film is just part of that premise. "Naked Sword" is low-budget affair, with a plot which is almost none-existent--and I still await a great film that would explore the world of a female assassin than one that focuses on eroticism and exploitive elements. Female ninjas played a huge part of the feudal wars, and deserves a better movie than one that borders on porn. I guess it may take longer for us to see a sexy, suspenseful female ninja film; this film doesn't deliver any action or thrills at all--but as an erotic, exploitive "pink" flick this film will not disappoint. If you want some pervy kicks, then this film may be for you, plus, it does have Kaede Matsushima. RENTAL [2 ½ Stars] Note: Switchblade Sisters have also released another film called "Twin Blades of the Ninja" starring ex-AV star Risa Koda.
